Für alle die nicht wissen wie es gemacht wird, google Translate hilft denen die kein English können
This guide is the noob-friendly version, almost as detailed as possible.
There is also an expert, short version maintained by NuclearMonkey
This guide also exists in: English only so far.
Important notes before flashing v10.1
- You don't need root & you don't need CWM prior to flashing v10.1, the ROM comes rooted with everything you need. All you have to do is to follow this guide
- V10.1 is based on JVH firmware so to flash it you need to install a JVH base ROM first Flashing a base ROM means flashing it with Odin. Ficeto_JVH_Odin is what you should use. Everything will be explained, keep reading.
- If you already flashed Ficeto_JVH_Odin then you can flash v10.1 over it, else you need to flash Ficeto_JVH_Odin before flashing v10.1 in CWM.
- If you flashed Ficeto_JVH_Odin & Ficeto_JVH_CWM on top you can also flash v10.1 over it no problem.
- If you come from Froyo, from Gingerbread JVK or JVB then YES you need to flash the JVH base ROM. If you don't you'll probably have problems.
Disclaimer
- Nobody in the Darky crew can be held responsible if you brick your Phone. Galaxy S's are almost unbrickable but this can still happen.
- However if something does happen there will always be a friendly community willing to help you out
Compatibility
This how-to has worked on those models:
- GT-I9000 International
- Captivate
If you try on any I9000M/B/... please leave a comment so I can update this list and let all users know whether it worked or not.
Lagfixes
- To disable your lagfix, install/open the Voodoo Sound app, go to lagfix preferences and untick the top 2 options. On next reboot the phone will talk to you while converting ext4 file system back to RFS. Allow up to 1/2 hour. No need for the debug to be ticked.
- It is strongly recomended that you disable all lagfixes and tweaks before flashing through Odin (regardless what kernel you have installed).
- When you flash through CWM you have to disable the lagfixes if the kernel you have installed and the kernel you are installing aren't compatible (different families). So if you have a Speedmod kernel with lagfixes enabled and you flash Ficeto_JVH_Odin or v10.1 (with a Dark_Core kernel), you take the risk to get into trouble and maybe brick your phone.
- If you have a Dark_Core / Voodoo kernel installed with lagfixes enabled and you are or v10.1 (upgrade through CWM, not Odin) then it is recommended that you don't disable your lagfixes. And you will save a lot of time (Dark_Core and Voodoo kernels are from the same family).
- If you didn't disable your lagfixes before you flashed with Odin (or Heimdall) and if you had installed the Voodoo app in your prevuous ROM, you will probably hear a robotic voice on first boot after flashing. This is because lagfixes are still enabled in settings and the settings are being applied (files are being converted to ext4). Just wait at least up to 30 minutes until it boots.
- Generally, if you want to easily enable the lagfix after flashing, install/open the Voodoo Sound app, go to lagfix preferences and select the top 2 options. On next reboot the phone will talk to you while converting RFS file system to ext4. Allow up to 1/2 hour. No need for "debug" to be ticked.
Pre-flashing recommendations
- You need to have your phone's drivers installed on your pc for Odin to flash your phone. This can be done by installing Kies. It is also possible to install the drivers only, you can look for it on XDA.
- Before flashing you need to close Kies + Kies background service or the install won't work.
- Backup your EFS folder (i.e. with Nitrality, free app avail in Market).
- Remove your external sdcard before flashing (some also recommend to remove the SIM card).
- If you have some sort of theft-protection app installed on your device, disable it before flashing or you might end-up having to give a PIN code to use your phone.
- If anything goes wrong read this how-to fully before posting, it's full of useful tips.
- If you like more readings try this other how-to: The Quick Start Guide - Recurrent Questions (especially if you are new to DarkyRoms).
Flashing time
0. Backup your apps because they will all be erased
Titanium Backup is a good app for that, but not the only one.
1. Download these files
1.1 I9000 users (Galaxy S):
- Ficeto_JVH_I9000_Odin: [Multiupload] or [Torrent] (unless you're already running a Ficeto_JVH ROM installed properly)
- DarkyROM_v10.1: [Multiupload] or [Torrent] and put it in your /sdcard
1.2 I897 users (Captivate):
- Ficeto_JVH_I897_Odin: [Multiupload] or [Torrent] (unless you're already running a Ficeto_JVH ROM installed properly)
- DarkyROM_v10.1: [Multiupload] or [Torrent] and put it in your /sdcard
2. Flash Ficeto_JVH_Odin ROM - you may skip and go straight to [3.] if you are already running Ficeto JVH ROM
If you have Kies installed in your pc close it. Kill also the background process in the icon tray.
If Odin doesn't recognise your phone when you plug it, try all the USB ports in your pc until it works.
Note that for some people Odin 1.7 isn't working well on Windows 7 64bits (flashing often fails), so it might be safer to use Odin 1.3 instead in case you have a problem.
- Unzip Ficeto_Deodexed_JVH_I9000_ODIN.zip (Captivate users should read I897 instead of I9000)
- Open Odin
- For PIT select \Ficeto_Deodexed_JVH_I9000_ODIN\s1_odin_20100512.pit
- For PDA select \Ficeto_Deodexed_JVH_I9000_ODIN\Ficeto_Deodexed_JVH_I9000.tar
- Again, if your phone is a Captivate your files will show I897 instead of I9000
- Make sure Odin isn't picking a previous .tar file: sometimes it points to an old destination by default so check the path and the name of the files!
- Tick Re-partition
- Don't change anything else
- Reboot the phone in Download mode: long-press the power menu, find the option in the extended power menu and wait until the yellow screen appears or use the 3-button combo technique: power off and boot holding VOLUME DOWN + POWER + HOME together until the screen with the yellow picture appears, then release all buttons.
- Plug the phone to the PC, check it writes "Added!" like in this picture (if it doesn't, try a different USB port):
